HMSHost and San Antonio International Airport cut the ribbon recently
in celebration of the recent openings
of several new restaurants to enhance
the traveler’s airport dining experience. Now, travelers can share in the
local buzz created around town by
renowned San Antonio Chef Johnny
Hernandez’s own culinary creations,
La Gloria and The Fruteria, and his
innovative menu items at Mission City
Icehouse, through a joint venture with
HMSHost and Hernandez. HMSHost
has also opened La Tapenade, along
with national favorites Steak ‘n Shake,
Famous Famiglia and Auntie Anne’s/
Cinnabon. … In partnership with travel
retailer Hudson Group, lingerie and
beauty retailer Victoria’s Secret has
opened a new beauty and accessories
store in John F. Kennedy International’s
Terminal 4. The store will offer a range
of beauty products and accessories,
including travel-ready items such as
lip glosses and body-care products.
… DuPage (Ill.) Airport has unveiled a
renovated Kitty Hawk Café. The recent
facelift is part of DuPage’s $4.2 million
Flight Center renovation to deliver new
safety features and added convenience
to the West Chicago general aviation
facility. The new cafe features a modern,
inviting setting, comfortable banquette
seating and floor-to-ceiling windows
offering picturesque views of the airfield.
The restaurant has introduced a new
menu featuring signature paninis, wraps
and a selection of salads, deli sand-
wiches, house-made chili, and rotating
specials. The restaurant also offers
snacks, and items can be prepared
to go. … Airmall USA, operator of
the Airmall at Baltimore/Washington
International, announced that it has
partnered with Greenlight Biofuels to
implement an environmentally friendly
solution for recycling waste cooking oil
from tenants in the airport’s concession
program. Greenlight Biofuels is working
with Airmall to collect and recycle waste
cooking oil into biodiesel, a greener
fuel alternative that can reduce green-
house gas emissions by 78 percent,
the company said in a statement. …
HMSHost and Gerald R. Ford Interna-
tional Airport recently celebrated the
opening of the airport’s new restaurant
lineup. The opening included West
Michigan favorite Bell’s Brewhouse;
HMSHost’s restaurant, Greens, which
features healthy, fresh dishes; and the
refurbishing of an existing Starbucks.
