Spokane International recently completed a two-phase lighting improvement project in
its South Garage parking structure, which involved installation of 425 LED luminaires in
the five-floor building. According to the airport, these fixtures produce a brighter, whiter
light, making it easier for travelers to see their cars and feel safer at night. Reducing
maintenance time and expenses were driving forces for this project, the airport said.
Employees used to spend up to 16 hours each month changing lightbulbs and ballasts
on the old fixtures. Now, it may be 10 years before employees have to work on the
replacement fixtures.
