PMS 3165 PC
WARM GREY 4 PC
program, 105 members of the U.S.
House of Representatives and
34 members of the U.S. Senate
endorsed a letter to then-President-elect Trump expressing their desire
for this cost-effective program to
be continued.
While we have been mostly
successful in earning support
from Congress, challenges remain.
The good news is that members of
Congress have heard our appeals
and most of our legislative “asks”
are poised to be included in the
next round of negotiations for FAA
reauthorization. The bad news is
that budget cuts and other political
activity continue to loom and
threaten to whittle away at this
program that has time-and-again
been touted as one of the best-ever examples of a public/private
partnership.
Even with the ongoing
consideration of modernizing the
ATC system, we remain optimistic
that future legislation will sustain
the ATC system, so that safety
is never compromised, rather
enhanced. While many continue
to disagree with the idea of a
stand-alone ATC corporation, I feel
improvements to our ATC system
must be made. I remain encouraged,
however, that wisdom will prevail
and that smart people will make
positive changes.
I am extremely grateful for the
energy and guidance provided
by AAAE Senior Executive Vice
President for Global Operations
Spencer Dickerson and AAAE
Executive Vice President-Government and Public Affairs Joel
Bacon. They have been tenacious
in their efforts on Capitol Hill and
their professional guidance and
patience with us airport folks.
Finally, a word of thanks to the
AAAE Executive Committee, Board
of Directors and Policy Review
Committee for their continued
support of USCTA initiatives.
