San Antonio’s Stinson Municipal recently hosted a groundbreaking for its new air traffic control tower, which will feature a design commemorating more than 100 years of aviation at the airport.
The tower’s design, entitled “Wings over Stinson,” is reminiscent of the
early days at Stinson. At night the wings will be illuminated to ensure the
tower’s visibility both during the day and at night. The design reflects the
airport’s close connection to the city’s historic missions and reinforces
Stinson’s place in the World Heritage District.
