Welcome to this special Inside AAAE section of Airport Magazine. In the pages that follow, you’ll have a chance to learn more about your organization, your team, and the issues, activities, and member
services that we devote ourselves to on your behalf.
The AAAE Team is committed to delivering Service, Innovation and
Results to the membership. We are extremely proud of the value proposition
that membership in AAAE represents, and we are constantly striving to do
even more. If there is a bigger bang for your buck than membership in AAAE,
we want to know what it is!
Our unique operating model relies on entrepreneurship, the provision
of marketplace services and non-dues revenue to generate the resources
necessary to provide best-in-class representation in Washington, millions
of dollars in scholarships and a host of other services valued by the
membership. And we’ve accomplished this while raising dues exactly once
in the past quarter century. The greater our operational success, the more
resources AAAE is able to devote to member services — a virtuous cycle that
benefits our members across the country.
The AAAE Team is dedicated to finding new and better benefits to
enhance your membership. In 2016, we’ve rolled out a whole series of new
benefits, including the hiring of our first-ever vice president of member
delight and engagement, a position solely dedicated to enhancing your
membership experience. We’ve offered all of our accredited members a $100
credit at our online store. We are increasing the size of our scholarship
awards by more than 33 percent in 2016 (by the way, we have given out $4
million in awards since 1989). We have created a brand new scholarship
opportunity for women in aviation. We are co-funding new internship
opportunities with our chapters and building a Young Professionals Group to
help with the next generation of leadership in our industry. We are offering
our corporate partners FREE advertising opportunities. And the list goes on.
On the innovation front, we are knee-deep in helping airports proactively
address a series of emerging issues impacting airport operations such as
app-based transportation (ridesharing), UAS (drones) and next generation
security solutions. Our Airport Innovation Accelerator is helping get new
ideas and solutions vetted and injected into the airport marketplace.
Whether it is the next FAA reauthorization bill, employee screening or
SMS, our advocacy teams are hard at work on your behalf in Washington,
D.C. Likewise, our meetings team is making sure we have first-rate
conferences and workshops (over 80 a year) and our training team is
delivering the goods — computer-based training with our patented
Interactive Employee Training Learning Suite (IET-LS) and our fantastic
onsite training courses where we come to you. The list of all the efforts that
Team AAAE is undertaking on your behalf this year exceeds the amount of
space provided, and we are working to do more every day.
So, please look through this special Inside AAAE section to at least get
a glimpse of what the team is focused on this year. Whether it is training,
accreditation, meetings, scholarships or advocacy on public policy issues, we
are there for you. “Service, Innovation and Results” aren’t just words for us.
Delivering for our members is the animating objective of Team AAAE.
