including all site work, the educational amphitheater, irrigation system, fencing, and
the exercise “Perimeter Taxiway” and walking “Runways.” In early 2013, the walking
“Runways” and “Perimeter Taxiway” will be painted to look like real ones, the airport said.
new retail program for Metro’s
McNamara Terminal that will
include more than $13 million
retail investment in the airport.
The new retail program is expected to return $7.7 million to the airport authority in its first full year of
operation — a 16. 9 percent increase
over the current program — and
more than $62 million over the
seven-year terms of the contracts,
according to an announcement.
Previously, 95 percent of the ter-
minal’s dining and retail options
were located pre-security, making
it difficult for passengers to access
dining and shopping while waiting
for flights. The redevelopment is
the first since the terminal’s con-
struction in 1993.
O’HARE’S TERMINAL 5
TO BE REDEVELOPED
The Chicago Department of Aviation
(CDA) and Westfield Concession
Management have unveiled
redevelopment plans for Terminal 5
at Chicago O’Hare International.
The plans include 15 new dining
and retail brands and new passenger
Scheduled for completion in fall
2013, the redevelopment will feature
dining and retail post-security.
Many Chicago-based restaurants
and brands will be included in a
re-engineered layout to enhance the
traveler experience and maximize
revenues, CDA said.
